My Why

Working in technology, a field dominated by men, I am sometimes a bit of an anomaly.  My colleagues are often perplexed by my confidence, focus and drive.  I have often been told that I act like a man or that I am the quintessential alpha female.  I can’t tell you how often I’ve been asked why I am the way that I am.  It took me a while to respond to this question with any certainty, but the answer is, “because I am my father’s first daughter”.  As such, my father taught me to never question my value, stand tall among giants, assert myself, and believe in myself no matter what.  Always telling me that I was a leader and leaders step up and stand up in the most trying of situations.
